BARCELO SPORTS FOUNDATION

In their lifetime, Julian Barceló and Miguel Barceló both forged leadership role in promoting sports. Following this initiative, our company has always given priority to sponsorship of the amateur sports events. In 1974, Barceló & Co. Organized the Julian Barceló Cup to annually promote amateur boxing.

 Since 1984, the Santo Domingo Association of Sportswriters presents the Julian Barceló Award every year to person who has most notably contributed to sports in this country. In 1986, Julian Barceló was inducted posthumously to the Sport's Hall of Fame. Miguel Barceló was also honored by this same organization in 1993.

 In keeping with this great heritage , the Barceló Sports Foundation was created in November 1990 to sponsor events such as amateur boxing, softball, baseball, basketball and volleyball. In addition it has developed a strong support program together with the Olympic Committee.
